Community Profile

 

          San Jose is the largest barangay not only in the city of Antipolo but in the whole Philippines as well where Purok Libis is situated. It has a total land area of more than 2,000 hectares and comprises of more than two hundred (200) families. Most of its population are Dumagats , Ilocanos and Tagalogs.

          Purok Libis is situated at the foot of the mountain range of Sierra Madre. It is approximately 37.54 kilometers away from the city proper. Its vicinity is rural with a temperature cooler than most of the sitios of Barangay San Jose. It is can be reached through land transportation for more than an hour due to the semi-concrete road going to the place.  Most of the residents do their marketing at the city proper. Goods and commodities are transported through jeepneys and motorcycles.

          It is entirely an agricultural community wherein aside from farming, people raise poultry for livelihood. It is also blessed with gold. Most of the residents are skilled miners. Mining is their alternative source of income. With the absence of electricity, the community uses solar panels as source of electricity. Others use generators, too.
