Background History

 

      Libis Elementary School is situated at Purok Libis, Sitio San Ysiro, San Jose, Antipolo City with a land area of 5,000 square meters .A deed of donation was issued and signed by Mr. Edilberto Lagasca , former barangay captain after being requested by the Teacher- In-Charge ,,Mrs. Erwena Corvera. It was on July 16, 2008 that the lot was donated in the name of the school through the resolution made and constituted by the Sangguniang Barangay of San Jose.

     Libis Elementary School is one of the far flung schools in the division which is approximately 37.14 kilometers away from the division office. The school was formerly a satellite school of Kaysakat Elementary School. It became an independent and complete elementary in the school year 2009-2010 headed by Mrs. Erwena Corvera, Mr. Celso R. Bagunu, and Mrs. Jenneath Bartolata. At present, the school caters to 132 pupils with 7 teachers headed by the Teacher-In-Charge, Mrs. Paz T. Casagan. It has one concrete building that consists of four rooms. Three rooms were divided into two to make six (6) classrooms to house the Kindergarten – Grade 6 pupils. The remaining classroom is utilized for the office/ guidance/ mini- library and clinic of the school.

     The school caters mostly to indigenous children, who belong to the indigenous community. Their parents’ source of income is farming and gold mining along river at the foot of the mountains. Most of their families use solar panel as a main source of electricity while others use generator and the community people are looking forward to secondary high school in the near future.
